Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker editor explains that big Snoke reveal

Note: This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Ever since Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released, countless theories about the origins of Snoke have circulated online.

The Rise of Skywalker seemed to finally explain where the mysterious former Supreme Leader came from, with a glimpse of a glass container holding multiple Snokes and appearing to suggest that he was some sort of clone created by Palpatine.

Well, the movie's editor has now confirmed that he was indeed a clone, Maryann Brandon explaining how they wanted to explain everything with that one shot.

"I just think that came up as a visual effect that we thought would be really fun for an audience, to create a visual that would tell that whole story," she told HuffPost.

"I believe that's successful. We didn't have to change a lot of dialogue. You just see one shot and you kind of get it. I love stuff like that. We can just have a moment where you just see something in the background and you go, 'OK, I totally get that'."

Brandon has also revealed that the kiss between Kylo Ren and Rey almost didn't happen, and admitted that they were in a "no-win" situation amid accusations of the movie having too much "fan service".

"Look, sure, it's fan service and if you didn't service the fans, it would be, 'Oh, he didn't go along with the history of Star Wars and what it all means'," she said.
