Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker had tragic Lando backstory we didn't see

Note: if you haven't seen The Rise of Skywalker yet... turn back while you still can! This article contains spoilers.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker included a very intriguing exchange between Lando Calrissian and Jannah, and now we have some fresh context that might provide some further context.

As those who've seen JJ Abrams' latest space opera will know, Resistance fighter Jannah (played by Naomi Ackie) asks Billy Dee Williams' Lando a question during a conversation right near the end of the film.

Lando goes on to ask where Jannah is from, but it was revealed earlier on in the movie that she was abducted by the First Order as a kid.

Upon learning that Jannah is unaware of her origins, Lando responds: "Well, let's find out..."

Now, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we know that companion book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – The Visual Dictionary details a backstory that potentially connects the pair.

The book states: "When peace reigned, [Lando] attempted to start a family, but tragedy struck and his infant daughter vanished.

"It was only later that it became clear who the culprits behind the abduction were: the First Order, building their fighting forces but also specifically striking out at the old Alliance leadership."

Could this book passage mean that Jannah is Lando's long-lost daughter?
