Star Wars' Oscar Isaac opens up about Poe's romantic relationships

Note: Contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actor Oscar Isaac has spoken about the romantic relationships of his character Poe, something which fans have been wanting to see explored.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Isaac said that you definitely "get the sense" that Poe has a romantic past with new character Zorri, played by Kerri Russell, something he enjoyed exploring.

"I did like that we were getting to see a bit more colour, and where he came from, and what his past was," Isaac continued.

"So far, it’s been more of a sub-textual kind of – maybe – romantic relationship with Finn a bit. And now this was kind of a more explicit one from the past."

Of course many fans have been shipping Poe and Finn (John Boyega), a relationship which Isaac has fully endorsed.

But even if Poe's sexuality isn't explicitly stated in the movies, Isaac is happy for fans to pick up on the chemistry between Poe and Finn.

Speaking about Poe's ambiguity, Isaac said: "It's something that naturally came out with the chemistry with John and those two characters in particular.

"I think there were some interesting things that could have happened that maybe didn’t – explicitly so.

"But yeah, I think, often, the subtextual stuff is a bit more fun to play."
