A brand new TV spot for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has landed from a galaxy far, far away – and if you weren't excited for December 19 before, you will be after watching this.

Because the clip, which focuses mainly on Daisy Ridley's Rey and Adam Driver's Kylo Ren, not only brings back iconic Star Wars villain Emperor Palpatine, it also reveals the return of a classic John Williams prequel theme.

"This will be the final word in the story of Skywalker," Palpatine's voice warns, as Rey and Kylo battle near the wreckage of the Death Star. John Williams' 'Duel of the Fates' from The Phantom Menace kicks in, along with a hint of Vader's Theme, and tension swiftly reaches fever pitch.

An early projection for the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga suggests the movie will make at least $175m to $200m in the US, on par with early projections for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Those two went on to $248m and $220m respectively, so it seems the Force may be with The Rise of Skywalker too – and by 'Force', we of course mean cash.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has a release date of Thursday, December 19 in the UK and Friday, December 20 in the US.
