In 2018, Avengers: Infinity War managed to thrill us and nearly break us, but surprisingly it didn’t inspire us to do as much desperate Googling as one might expect.

The data collectors over at Google have been busy tabulating what you’ve been searching for all year long (in a non-creepy way), and their results turned up some pretty surprising outcomes in the annual end-of-year rankings.

Digital Spy can exclusively reveal that in Google’s list of overall Top Trending Entertainment film, games and TV trends, Avengers: Infinity War could only muster a number-five placement. Luckily, it wasn’t all bad news for Marvel, since Black Panther actually ended up topping the list over Fortnite, A Star is Born and Red Dead Redemption 2.

When it came to actual movie rankings, Avengers: Infinity War was again trailing two other hits from 2018, at least in terms of Google searches.

Here again, fellow Marvel hit Black Panther and Lady Gaga’s breakthrough movie musical A Star Is Born actually had more people searching than Thanos wiping out half of the MCU with a single snap!
