Germaine Greer has shown that controversial points win prizes, collecting an award for her comments that she doesn't regard transgender women as true women.
She received the Iconoclast prize at the Oldie of the Year Awards, although she said in her speech that she wasn't keen on being celebrated as a reactionary.

"I feel I have nicked this award," she commented (via The Independent). "I don't want to be recognised for being a reactionary. I'm not. I don't want to recognise polarised gender.
"We are none of us masculine enough, none of us feminine enough. It's a losing battle."
Speaking on Newsnight last year when her views were in the headlines, she said: "I'm not saying that people should not be allowed to go through that procedure. What I'm saying is it doesn't make them a woman."
She also addressed Caitlyn Jenner being a contender for Glamour's Woman of the Year, saying: "I think it's misogynist. I think misogyny plays a really big part in all of this - that a man who goes to all of these lengths to be a woman will be a better woman than someone who is just born a woman."
