Rise of the Tomb Raider will not be made by Crystal Dynamics on Xbox 360.
Dutch studio Nixxes Software will handle the last-gen port, according to Game Informer (via GameSpot).
Square Enix executive Darrell Gallagher described Rise of the Tomb Raider as "an Xbox One title without limitation".
"The Xbox 360's ecosystem is still super strong," Gallagher continued. "There are millions of players out there who have an Xbox 360 and those console translations take time. So we did a test.
"Nixxes put together a tech demo of Rise of the Tomb Raider content running on Xbox 360 and we were totally blown away by what they achieved.
"But the existence of that game isn't limiting our work on the Xbox One version."

Nixxes previously worked on new-gen ports of the Tomb Raider reboot, as well as Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Thief on PC.
The studio confirmed the news on its website, saying that it plans to "create the best experience for Lara Croft's latest adventure".
New Rise of the Tomb Raider details and screenshots will appear in the March issue of Game Informer.
Set in the frozen wilds of Siberia, the game will send Lara on a hunt for the lost secrets of immortality.
The game will feature more diverse environments and larger tomb puzzles, as Lara confronts a new enemy that has been lying in the shadows.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is scheduled to debut this holiday season as an Xbox exclusive.
