Rise of the Tomb Raider has been listed for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Despite being announced for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, online retailer Amazon is advertising the game for last-gen consoles.
Square Enix is yet to comment on the rumours.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was unveiled alongside a trailer during last week's E3 gaming expo.
Rhianna Pratchett will return to write the sequel, having previously penned last year's Tomb Raider reboot.
The game will take players to multiple locations around the world filled with exploration spaces that are described as some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth.
