The Sims 4 has been rated for adults-only in Russia for including same-sex relationships.
The upcoming sequel will allow users to enter same-sex relationships, meaning that only those over the age of 18 will be able to purchase the game throughout the region.
Posting on the game's Russian Twitter account, a spokesperson said that the rating has been assigned "in accordance with the law number 436-FZ."
An amendment in that particular law has caused controversy for proscribing "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relationships".
The Sims 3, which was released before the amendment, wasn't given an adults-only rating.
Nintendo recently apologised for failing to include same-sex relationships in it's upcoming 3DS game Tomodachi Life.

LGBT advocacy group GLAAD had previously criticised the game's lack of same-sex relationships, describing it as sending out a "hurtful message".
The Sims 4 will make its PC debut this autumn.
