After the explosive season one finale of The Following, who knows what could happen in the future episodes? We certainly don't, but thankfully we're here at San Diego Comic-Con waiting to see what the stars and writers have to say about it all!

15:59Well, that's a wrap on the Following panel! Now we just have to wait until January for the new episodes...
15:59Did Kevin B ask for more sarcastic Ryan lines in season two? "We have talked about that," he replies. "We'll try our best to get some sarcasm in there."
15:58Kevin W says the show is supposed to be a "page turner" - hopefully it will keep that spirit. He wants it to be a "crazy thrill ride" every week.
15:57Kevin W says no-one has been cast yet, but there will be new characters. There will be some new leads - good and bad. "There'll be a brand new cast that will move along with these guys," he says.
15:56"I enjoyed every single scene that I shot," James smiles, adding that all of his co-stars are "marvellous".
15:56Valorie has two favorite scenes - the first was her very first scene that she shot, the flashback to the book store where Emma meets Joe, because it laid the groundwork for "everything". She also liked the scene where she's reunited with him at the mansion. "It was very emotional," she says.

15:55Kevin B says he was always running around in the show, so it was nice when he was forced to stay still in the farmhouse - he liked the "intellectual gameplay".
15:54Shawn loved the Fight Club stuff he got to do. "For me it was what broke Weston," he says, adding that he loved playing the "darker road".
15:53Kevin W says they learned a lot from season one - they keep evolving and are just trying to make the show better. "We just keep moving forward, telling new stories," he says. "It's going to have the fun of last season, the pace and the thrills and the twists and the turns, but it'll give us an opportunity to tell a new story."
15:52Kevin W says the FBI are the "underdogs" in the story but they got "too underdoggy" - he recognises that they were "a little dumb"! He admits it was a no-win situation because they couldn't catch the bad guys, which is why season two will be less of a chase. "It's a brand new story - we're sort of resetting," he says.
15:51James says he's excited to give the characters "more depth" and "more substance", saying that the viewers will have a "much better time" with that.
15:51Will we get to know more about Joe's backstory? Kevin W promises more flashbacks - he says there's so much in these characters we haven't seen. "Where were the seeds of evil planted?" he asks. "Nature vs nurture... we'll flashback and maybe see some of his family life when he was a young child, when he was a young adult... We'll explore all those areas."
15:50James says that the show focused on a specific area last season... but there are Followers everywhere! Is that a hint?
15:49James jokes that Joe "just needs to open up and make some friends". Kevin W says the Edgar Allen Poe stuff "didn't work out so well" - so he'll need to figure out a new way.
15:49So what has Joe Carroll been up to for the past year? James suggests he's been doing some "soul-searching"! "I suspect he's trying to see where the plan went awry and will come back with double the strength, double the force," he adds. "But I think he's going to have a bit of time on his own out of the city."

15:48Kevin B says Ryan is never too far away from "some kind of stuff that's in his soul". "He lives with a lot of guilt and a lot of pain and we'll have to see where that starts to rear its head," he says. "I think it'll certainly come out in some ways, sooner or later."
15:47Kevin W adds that we're going to learn about Ryan's family and background a little bit more in season two.
15:47He adds that the relationship is interesting because there's a "father-son" kind of thing to it. "He's way too old to be my son," Kevin B jokes.
15:47Kevin W says the writers fell in love with Weston and Ryan. He suggests that the first season was the "prologue" and now the relationships can be explored more. He wants to see what the relationship is like now they've been through so much together. Will they be friends? Hostile?
15:46Marcos says Valorie will have "multiple looks" and will be "in disguise a lot" because Emma's on the run.
15:45Is Emma the new Joe Carroll? "No one could replace Joe Carroll!" she says. "That's my girl," James jokes. But Emma hints that Joe could have some competition...
15:45Valorie points out that Emma kind of lost everything in season one, so jumping ahead in the new season she has to learn "to live without that protection and that infrastructure of the cult". She suggests Emma may have "met some new friends"... ominous! She's excited to see what happens to Emma when she's left to her own devices.
15:44Kevin B suggests that everyone we meet in season two is in a "really different place" in their lives. He suggests that Ryan will be more "at peace" than we've ever seen him.
15:43Shawn likes how Weston began as a "shiny penny" but got progressively worn down - he thinks Parker's death will "really affect" him. And he's also sure there'll be repercussions for his actions with Hardy in season one.
15:41Kevin admits that the show got a little too violent sometimes so they pulled back, although it got a bit "generic" sometimes. But he wants to make sure that the show displays the effect and impact of death, and to make it emotional.

15:41Kevin says the idea of violence on television is subjective - people have different views. He admits he gets "squeamish" but this is make-believe: "I do believe we should be able to write... It's all fiction and if you can't tell the difference between fiction and reality, you've got a problem." He sympathises with an alternative view, but he doesn't think it's "responsible" for anything.
15:39James says he was "gobsmacked and amazed" with every script! As for Kevin B, he agrees on the neighbors twist from the pilot. He admits he often doesn't see the twists coming.
15:38Valorie says the "infamous shower scene" was the biggest surprise for her! She says she liked seeing how emotional and vulnerable Emma could be.
15:37Which plot twist surprised Shawn the most? It was Emma and the neighbors in the pilot for him, because that's what got him hooked on the show. "That was what established the twists and turns of the show," he says. And he likes that the idea that you couldn't trust anybody was planted in the pilot.
15:36Is it true Kevin B suggested killing off Ryan? "I was having a couple of bad days," he joked. But he does say anything can happen in television. "It becomes extremely important to us not to spoil things," he adds.
15:35Kevin Bacon says he loved working on the first season and praises his co-workers. "I really like the pace and I really find it exhilarating to spend 16 hours a day walking in Ryan's shoes," he says. And he's thrilled with the reaction from fans of the show.
15:34What will the new season's storyline be? Kevin Williamson says the show will move away from the FBI a little bit - it'll be "more of a character-driven thriller".
15:33Marcos says they were very aware of the things they could do better in season one, but now they've had time to work on those. He says the new episodes are better than the first season.
15:33The season premiere will finish that cliffhanger scene, but then jump forward a little bit in time. Kevin Williamson also reveals he's looking forward to season two because he can learn from previous episodes and now they have their "sea legs".
15:32On Joe's fate: "I guess he might be alive," Kevin Williamson says. "I don't want to give too much more away." He promises Joe Carroll will play into next season, but he doesn't want to spoil the fun.
15:31Kevin's phone rings - rude - but it turns out that it's Joe on the other end of the line! "You didn't think you could do a Comic-Con panel without me, did you?" he purrs. That's right - James Purefoy is here!
