Believe it or not, Game of Thrones season 8 is actually on its way. It's just taking an eternity.
At least one of the reasons for that is because it apparently took MONTHS (yes, plural) to film a "brutal" and epic battle with White Walkers.
Yes, season 8 is going to feature an inevitable snow zombie war so long the Game of Thrones prequel series will probably be released by the time it's finished.
News of this massive White Walker battle comes from a detailed report by Entertainment Weekly on the final season.
The report states that the confrontation with the Army of the Dead is expected to be the most sustained action sequence ever made for television or film.
Game of Thrones crew members explained that it took 55 nights to film the battle, but this was just for the outdoor scenes. Once filming had moved into the studio, they continued shooting the battle for weeks after that.

Earlier today (November 1), Entertainment Weekly revealed a first look at Game of Thrones season 8, which would more accurately be described as a picture of Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen and Kit Harrington's Jon Snow standing next to each other on the front cover of a magazine.
Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere in 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
