Game of Thrones could finally be headed to the big screen. A film version of the hugely popular HBO series is in development at Warner Bros, with House of Cards showrunner and Andor writer Beau Willimon penning the screenplay.
Page Six first reported the news, adding that Willimon has already submitted an initial draft that impressed WBD’s leadership team.
The publication adds that the film could center on Aegon I, who spawned the Targaryen dynasty and united six of the seven kingdoms before the events of the TV series.
All of the events of Game of Thrones are connected to Aegon I, though the character has never been depicted on screen.
Since Game of Thrones concluded in 2019 there have been two prequel series, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
