Emilia Clarke let go of Game of Thrones and her character Daenerys a year before the rest of the world will, posting a sentimental Instagram this weekend to pay tribute to the series.

"Hopped on a boat to an island to say goodbye to the land that has been my home away from home for almost a decade," she wrote. "It's been a trip @gameofthrones thank you for the life I never dreamed I'd be able to live and the family I'll never stop missing."

And, in a bittersweet twist, Clarke's season 1 co-star Jason Momoa, who played Khaleesi's late husband Khal Drogo, left one final loving comment on her 'gram.

"Love u. Proud of you," he wrote, as much as Clarke's work spouse as her real-life friend.

The two resurrected their Game of Thrones couple at what appeared to be the wrap party earlier this month, so some love truly outlasts brutal on-screen death:

Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere in 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
