Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage is still getting his head around some of the '80s objects he has to deal with on the Big Bang Theory spin-off show.

And a few in particular are blowing his mind, not least the fashion and technology...

"The phones were pretty weird," Iain told Digital Spy. "There are a lot of weird things. The clothing was very strange, the computers are bigger than my room at home."

Iain's co-star Annie Potts added: "Was it you or Montana [Jordan] who, we had a rotary phone on the set and he was trying to push the numbers on it, he didn't understand the rotary."

"I have seen people use the rotary so I did understand it," Iain replied. "I think that was Montana."

"It's a very curious machine now," said Annie.

Iain also convinced Digital Spy that he's quite a lot like Sheldon in real life. Asked about his hobbies, he explained: "I do gems. I love gems and precious stones, and I love classifying gems such as diamond and ruby and emerald and sapphire.

"My uncle's actually a jeweller so he loves to help me a lot with that kind of thing. I love magic, stuffed animals, Playmobils..."

The show recently wrapped up its first season, and dropped a big bombshell about the life of older Sheldon in the process.

Meanwhile, earlier this year it was confirmed that Young Sheldon would be getting a second season following the ratings success of the first.

After all, it's made strides on both sides of the Atlantic, becoming E4's biggest new comedy launch ever in the UK.

Young Sheldon airs on CBS in the US and E4 in the UK.
