Begging the question 'Do we even need The Simpsons anymore?', John DiMaggio has given us some very interesting details about Matt Groening's new animated series.

Slotting in nicely alongside the likes of Rick and Morty, Groening's new series for Netflix Disenchantment is all about "the gutter". A beautiful gutter, mind.

Speaking at MCM London Comic Con yesterday (May 26), Futurama and Adventure Time star John DiMaggio gave fans an insight into Disenchantment, promising 'filth'.

(Shocker.)

"Matt is brilliant and the people who write the show are brilliant. They can be really dirty and filthy without being dirty and filthy. And it's a better way to tell a joke," he explained.

"I, unfortunately, am not that smart so I go to the gutter immediately. They paint a very beautiful picture of the gutter."

Adding that the series has "arrived at the perfect time", DiMaggio revealed that Disenchantment is like the naughty lovechild of The Simpsons and Game of Thrones.

"It's as if The Simpsons fornicated with Game of Thrones. It's fantastic. It's right on time...it's really, really funny."

DiMaggio – aka Bender and Jake the Dog – also confirmed that he would be voicing the role of the king in the upcoming series. "I'm really excited about it," he said.

So are we, John. If not a little apprehensive, too...
