American Crime Story has finally returned to UK screens, more than two years since it gripped the entire world and won lots of awards with its dramatisation of The People v. O. J. Simpson back in 2016.
Like most of producer Ryan Murphy's shows these days, American Crime Story is totally rebooting for its second series, and shifting focus to the infamous real-life killing of fashion designer Gianni Versace in 1997.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story tells both the story of the designer's (Édgar Ramírez) emotionally-wrought final days, and flashes forward to the manhunt for his killer Andrew Cunanan (Darren Criss).
During Wednesday's UK premiere, Darren Criss's transformative powerhouse performance as the increasingly-desperate conman-turned-murderer Cunanan was singled out for praise by many BBC Two viewers:

What to Read Next
That's not to say that the series hasn't had its critics. The accuracy of American Crime Story has been called into question by Versace's family and his ex-lover Antonio D'Amico, but many more bizarre elements in the episode actually were based on true events.
In future weeks, the twists and turns of the Andrew Cunanan manhunt only grow more disturbing as viewers are introduced to the love of his life in the most brutal way possible, and track his descent into murderous rage.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story picks up next Wednesday at 9pm on BBC Two. In the US, the series continues tonight at 10pm on FX.
