The X-Files is finally coming to the UK for what appears to be Gillian Anderson's final season as Agent Dana Scully.

The 11th season of the cult sci-fi series has already been airing for weeks over in the US, while Channel 5 has been more cryptic than the Cigarette-Smoking Man about when UK fans will be able to watch.

Luckily, the truth is out there now, thanks to Channel 5 confirming that season premiere 'My Struggle III' will end up on UK screens on Monday, February 5. Watch a teaser below:

As mentioned, Gillian Anderson recently broke the news to fans that she will not be returning if Fox in the US chooses to order a 12th season of The X-Files.

"I've said from the beginning, this is it for me," she said. "I was a bit surprised by people's [shocked] reaction to my announcement… because my understanding was that this was a single season."

X-Files boss Chris Carter is choosing to stay coy about the show's future, although Gillian's co-star David Duchovny has said he's willing to continue without her.

That would be a reversal from the original series, which shifted to Anderson staying on board for the final few seasons after Duchovny quit the show.

"I've tried to say goodbye to Fox Mulder many times and I failed," he joked at the recent TCA press tour. "And they all went and did the show without me, so how do you like that? I'm feeling pretty pissed off, now that I remember."

The X-Files continues on Fox in the US.
