A trailer for the midseason premiere of The Walking Dead has been released, and it may well feature the grave of Carl Grimes.

What to Read Next

The trailer comes after the recent midseason finale 'How It's Gotta Be', where it was revealed that Carl Grimes had been bitten by a walker two episodes previous.

While Carl was still alive at the end of the episode, actor Chandler Riggs has confirmed the character will definitely die in the midseason premiere, which will air on February 25, 2018 on AMC.

So is this his actual grave?

The trailer begins with Rick and Michonne standing in front of said grave, with Rick holding a gun in his hand while Michonne holds her sword.

Interestingly, the grave featured in this trailer is in Alexandria, which means it can't be that of Glenn or Abraham, as their bodies were buried by Maggie and Sasha over at the Hilltop.

While we can't prove it, the likelihood is that this is the grave of Carl Grimes, which means we will see Carl's death and burial in the midseason premiere. It may also mean Alexandria isn't quite over with yet.

In another clip from the midseason opener, Daryl confirms "all" of the Alexandrians will be moving to The Hilltop after The Saviors firebombed Alexandria during 'How It's Gotta Be'.

If this relocation was really for the long term, surely Rick would have buried Carl at The Hilltop as well?

Thus, if Carl's grave is indeed located in Alexandria – like the grave in the trailer – it could mean that Rick is planning on rebuilding Alexandria after the "all-out war" is over.

Having said that, he may have just buried Carl at Alexandria for logistical reasons...

Teasing a "last stand", the 40-second clip also features Daryl and Siddiq walking through the woods, seemingly confirming he will be accepted into the fold after Carl's death.

In addition, it looks like Ezekiel may well get out of The Kingdom after all, after locking himself in to let his subjects escape.

The trailer shows Ezekiel talking with his Savior captor in his amphitheatre, before an explosion stage right. It also shows Carol firing her gun and Morgan creeping down some stairs, and we know both of them were outside The Kingdom gates when Ezekiel closed doors.

So, will Carol (and possibly Morgan) save him?

We also see Rosita in trouble with some walkers and Dwight back with The Saviors, for reasons yet to be specified.

Nonetheless, given one of their troops now knows he's a double agent, that probably isn't such good news.

The Walking Dead returns February 25, 2018 on AMC in the US and February 26, 2018 on FOX and NOW TV in the UK.
