Ever since Ryan Reynolds made Deadpool everyone's new favourite comic book character (until maybe Tom Holland's Spider-Man) last year, fans have been wanting more of The Merc with a Mouth.

Well now Marvel has announced chimichangas for everyone a brand new animated series set to premiere on FX, the home of the madcap X-Men spin-off Legion.

The ten-episode series is going to be executive produced and written by Donald Glover and his brother Stephen. You'll know Donald from Community, and he'll be appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming and the Han Solo Star Wars movie (as young Lando Calrissian), so he's got plenty of nerd cred.

The head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, said: "How much more fun could this be?

FX

"Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for The Merc with The Mouth! We're thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation."

Adult is definitely the key word here, this isn't going to be your kid-friendly Teen Titans Go!, which suits us fine. Deadpool works best when he's not held back – remember X-Men Origins: Wolverine?

What to Read Next

On the film side of things, the Deadpool sequel recently cast Josh Brolin as Cable – a mutant who is often paired with the fourth-wall-breaking anti-hero in the comics.
