We're nearing the end of Game of Thrones season six - but it looks like producers are already busy working on next year's episodes.

With two instalments to go before we're into a Game of Thrones drought, noted fan-site Watchers on the Wall reports that casting notices have recently been sent out for key roles in season seven.

The crew are apparently looking for a 16-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy - both with Northern UK accents - who will figure in "a high-stakes scene with leading cast members", according to the purported casting notice.

No physical descriptions have been given for the characters - making it difficult to pin down specifics of who these actors will be playing.

However, the desire for Northern accents could indicate that they will be present at Winterfell - the ancestral home of the Stark family.

Viewers will no doubt remember that the Bolton army currently occupy Winterfell - but they are due for a showdown with Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and their Wildling forces in this weekend's episode 'Battle of the Bastards'.

Interestingly, we're still not entirely sure how many episodes will comprise Game of Thrones season seven just yet.

Producers David Benioff and DB Weiss have tipped that they have 10-15 story hours left in the entire series, while director Jack Bender recently dropped his own hint that season seven would only have seven episodes.

HBO has yet to make any firm announcement, perhaps waiting for season six to finish before making public any details about next year.

In the meantime, Game of Thrones continues with 'Battle of the Bastards' on Sunday on HBO in the US and Monday on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
