The adventures of Agent Carter are coming to an end on ABC, while Agents of SHIELD spinoff Marvel's Most Wanted won't be getting off the ground at all.

Marvel's World War II-era action-adventure series was officially dropped by the network on Thursday (May 12) after just two seasons on the air.

However, Hayley Atwell isn't out of a job as a primetime ass-kicker. The Peggy Carter actress is sticking with ABC to topline its new fall drama Conviction, in which she'll play the daughter of a political power-broker who strives to clear the names of potentially-innocent convicts.

The demise of Agent Carter was sadly expected, as ABC had dragged its feet picking up the spinoff of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a third season.

Atwell debuted as Agent Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, and would reprise the role in her own Marvel One Shot short film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man.

Her Marvel TV series earned rave reviews when it premiered on ABC in 2014 as a spring replacement for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.

Meanwhile, Marvel's Most Wanted was set up two years in a row as a potential spinoff from SHIELD.

Most Wanted would have followed Nick Blood and Adrianne Palicki's popular agents Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse on new adventures throughout the larger Marvel Universe.
