There's still a chance that George Takei could pop up in NBC's miniseries Heroes Reborn.

Takei made several appearances in the original Heroes series as Kaito Nakamura, the father of Masi Oka's time-travelling favourite Hiro.

The Star Trek actor is currently preparing for the debut of his Broadway musical Allegiance, but assured TheWrap that a guest appearance in Heroes Reborn isn't out of the question.

"We're going to be opening on Broadway with Allegiance this fall. We go into previews on October 6, and we open on November 8. And we are certainly hoping for a good long run," he explained.

The actor then hinted: "If [Heroes Reborn producers] have a one-day gig that they'll shot on location in New York, I could do it."

Heroes Reborn brings back several characters from the original series, including Hiro, the devious Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) and troubled cop Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg).

Heroes Reborn premieres on September 24 on NBC.
