The Celebrity Apprentice is moving ahead with its next season, in spite of host Donald Trump running for president.

Trump officially launched his bid for the Republican presidential nomination today (June 15), having publicly toyed with a political bid in years past.

US television must observe an equal-time restriction for all political candidates, which could require NBC to showcase each presidential candidate equally if it continues with Trump as host of The Celebrity Apprentice.

NBC released a statement today clarifying the status of The Celebrity Apprentice, which was renewed earlier this year.

"We will re-evaluate Trump's role as host of Celebrity Apprentice should it become necessary, as we are committed to this franchise," an NBC spokesperson has said.
