Arnold Schwarzenegger's Celebrity Apprentice is terminated (for now)

The Celebrity Apprentice has been terminated for the time being by NBC.

Earlier this year, Arnold Schwarzenegger took over from Donald Trump as the host of the reality show, but the series struggled in the ratings and Arnie has since said he won't be back.

And now it seems the show won't be either. "There is no plan for The Apprentice. It's not cancelled, but I don't think you will see it back anytime soon," NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt told TVLine.

Arnie's Celebrity Apprentice premiered to fewer than five million viewers in January, slipping to 3.5m by its finale and averaging under 4m viewers compared to the last Trump season averaging 6.3m.

Unsurprisingly, it led to some mocking from now-President Trump and Arnie wasn't about to take it lying down.

"There's nothing more important than the people's work, @realDonaldTrump," he wrote. "I wish you the best of luck and I hope you'll work for ALL of the American people as aggressively as you worked for your ratings."

Back in March, Arnie revealed that he wouldn't be doing another season of The Celebrity Apprentice. "I learned a lot, I had a great time, it was a really great opportunity. But under the circumstances I don't want to do it again," he explained.
