Blood of My Blood, the highly-anticipated Outlander prequel series, has just dropped a major announcement.
Set for release on Starz on August 8 in the US, the first season of the prequel show will premiere in the UK the following day.
Taking place across two different timelines, the show will focus on the parents of Outlander protagonists Claire Beauchamp (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).
Fans are in for a treat as the show has already been confirmed for a second season ahead of its season one debut, with production already underway in Scotland (per Variety).
Speaking about the season two announcement, showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts said: "The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of My Blood has been extraordinary and we’re thrilled to continue these epic love stories in season two.

Blood of My Blood follows the romance between Jamie's parents Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and Claire's parents Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine).
The official description reads: "From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, unfolding in surprising and unforeseen ways."

Rounding out the cast are stars including Tony Curran, Séamus McLean Ross, Rory Alexander, Conor MacNeill, and Sam Retford.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Starz in the US on 8 August, with episodes following weekly. In the UK, the series will air on 9 August on MGM+.
