ABC Family has cast two new roles in its upcoming Shadowhunters series.
Blue Bloods actor Alberto Rosende and telenova actress Emeraude Toubia (Voltea Pa'Que Te Enamores) have signed up to play Simon and Isabelle Lightwood, respectively.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fantasy series (based on the young adult books Shadowhunters) will be produced by Constantin Film and is to focus on the yet-to-be-cast character of Clary Fray (played by Lily Collins in the 2013 film).
On her 18th birthday, Clary discovers that she in fact comes from a long line of Shadowhunters; a group of human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.
When her mother is kidnapped, a confused Clary is forced to enter the world of demon hunting with another Shadowhunter named Jace (to be played by Dominic Sherwood) and her best friend, Simon (Rosende, with the role played by Misfits Robert Sheehan in the big screen adaptation).
Ed Decter (Helix, Unforgettable, The Client List) has been confirmed as the series showrunner and executive producer. McG will executive produce and direct the first episode of what is thought to be a 13-episode run.
