The season finale, which aired in the US last night (April 22), saw Paige reveal to her pastor that her parents Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip (Matthew Rhys) aren't Americans.

"I'm not sure what is happening at all," Taylor told Variety, when asked about what will happen with Paige next season. "I never really am. I guess it's more fun that way.

"No-one's really talked about it, but I have let it slip in there a few times that I would really like it if Paige was a spy.

"I think it would be fun to play. I think it would be so cool if Paige worked past her rebellious phase and accepted her parents now that she knows who they are and then joined forces with them."

Taylor also praised TV shows for taking a chance on teenagers and giving them significant storylines.

"I think it's really awesome," she commented. "I definitely have seen that change even while I was on The Americans.

"Season one, Paige and Henry were just in the background setting up the storyline for Elizabeth and Philip. It's really cool to be more involved in the show and have a bigger role, and I was really excited to take on the responsibility.

"It's really cool how people are giving teenagers a chance on adult shows."

The Americans airs on FX in the US. ITV showed the first two seasons, but dropped the spy thriller earlier this year.
