The next season of Netflix anthology series Monster has been teased in new filming pictures.

Following the success of the true crime show's second season, which focused on brothers Lyle and Erik Menéndez, the upcoming third will centre on serial killer Ed Gein (played by Charlie Hunnam).

New behind-the-scenes stills have now emerged from filming in Los Angeles (which can be viewed via The Sun), showing the Sons of Anarchy star in character with cropped and gelled hair, while wearing a red plaid jacket.

The real-life Gein, who gained the moniker the 'Butcher of Plainfield', confessed to the killing of Mary Hogan and Bernice Worden in the 1950s after it was discovered that he exhumed bodies from a local graveyard in Wisconsin.

After being initially declared unfit to stand trial, he was tried and found guilty of Worden's murder in 1968, though was declared legally insane. He was also suspected of killing more people.

The White Lotus’ Tom Hollander will portray Alfred Hitchcock and The Crown’s Olivia Williams will star as his wife Alma, with Gein reportedly serving as inspiration for Norman Bates in the director's movie Psycho.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story debuted in September, and focuses on the brothers' murder of their parents José and Kitty Menéndez.

However, the season drew controversy and was labelled a "dishonest portrayal" by the real Erik – though co-creator Ryan Murphy has since defended the show.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and first season The Jeffrey Dahmer Story are available to stream now on Netflix.
