Kevin Costner's return to Yellowstone has been teased in a tense trailer for season five part two.

In the preview of the upcoming episodes, which are due to air next month and are slated to be the show's last, war is on the horizon for the Duttons.

"Everyone's forgotten who runs this valley," Costner's John Dutton declares. "Time to remind 'em."

Despite the fifth season being previously confirmed as the conclusion of the main series, reports recently emerged that a sixth season could be in the pipeline, with Reilly and Rip Wheeler actor Cole Hauser leading the show.

Costner is unlikely to return though, with the actor confirming in June that his time on the series is now done.

"It was something that really changed me. I loved it, and I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won't be returning. And I love the relationship that we've been able to develop, and I'll see you at the movies."

Yellowstone has spawned a number of spin-offs, including upcoming show The Madison, which will star Michelle Pfeiffer, Suits' Patrick J Adams and Firefly Lane's Beau Garrett and is due to premiere next year.

Yellowstone returns for season 5 part 2 on Sunday, November 10 in the US and Monday, November 11 in the UK. It streams on Paramount+.
