By Stuart Townsend has been cast in Elementary.
The actor will recur as Del, Joan Watson's (Lucy Liu) new boss at a global insurance firm, and will first appear in 2015.
An upcoming arc will see Joan take on a part-time job as an investigator for the company.
Executive producer Rob Doherty told Entertainment Weekly: "We'll find out that the company has hired Joan a handful of times with small assignments, and she's managed to catch their eye and they want her to join on a more permanent basis.
"When we meet Stuart's character, Sherlock is finding out about all of this for the first time, and has to figure out to what degree this might change the dynamics of the partnership again."
Townsend is known for starring as Dorian Grey in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
