You actor Penn Badgley has weighed in on life as a dad and a stepdad.

Stopping by The New York Times' Modern Love podcast for an episode titled 'How to Be Real With Your Kids', Badgley referenced his dual responsibilities as a dad to a biological child and a stepdad to his wife Domino Kirke's teenager Cassius.

"I have an interesting situation where I have a biological son and a stepson," he began.

"And my stepson is ― his father is very much in his life, so his father is his father, and I'm ― I'm something else. So I have two different parental roles.

"And then my biological son is only three and a half, so that's a very different thing, too. I'm going to need to be able to more consciously show him my vulnerability as he gets older in those years," the star said.

In other news, Badgley previously confessed he didn't like playing his most famous character Joe Goldberg – the murderous stalker in You.

"There's a lot I don't enjoy about him," he told Digital Spy and other press. "To be honest, I don't enjoy nearly everything about him.

"However, it ends up being a deep, deep psychological exploration for me. And it seems to bear fruit. There's a lot about him that I struggle with, and yet I'm always trying to humanise him as much as possible."

The Netflix thriller's fifth and final season officially commenced production this month, with a first-look photo making its way online teasing Joe in the Big Apple.
