Game of Thrones writer George RR Martin has unveiled a preview of his upcoming new book.
The author - who penned the original A Song of Ice and Fire novels which have become the basis of the HBO show - is set to release The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the World of Game of Thrones.
Martin debuted a snippet from the highly-anticipated project on his website yesterday (April 17).
The preview tells the story of conqueror of the Seven Kingdoms Aegon I Targaryen, the ancestor of Daenerys Targaryen - who is portrayed by Emilia Clarke in the hit TV adaptation.
The excerpt, titled 'Aegon's Conquest', is accompanied by an image of one of his fearsome dragons.
Martin wrote the most recent episode of Game of Thrones, which featured the shock death of one of the show's main characters.

Game of Thrones continues next Sunday (April 20) on HBO in the US and the following day on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
