The English actor will play Aldus Crick, a scientist who first discovered the Tomorrow People, in the new show's eighth and ninth episodes.

Young starred as John - the role played by Home and Away's Luke Mitchell in the remake - between 1973 and 1979 and was the only cast member to remain for the original Tomorrow People's entire six-year run.

Robbie Amell (Revenge) and Peyton List (Mad Men) will also star in The CW's series, with Lost's Mark Pellegrino cast as villain Jedikiah.

Julie Plec - who developed the revamp - previously admitted that she is a fan of the original Tomorrow People and used to watch the series as a child.
