Abbott Elementary's Chris Perfetti has been made aware that the Internet thinks he looks like RuPaul's Drag Race star Plasma — and he's loving the comparison.

The actor, who plays history teacher Jacob Hill on the critically-acclaimed school comedy, is flattered to be likened to the New York City queen competing on the current season of Drag Race.

"I should be so lucky as to be related to somebody as talented as Plasma is. I love that," Perfetti told Entertainment Weekly.

As it turns out, the Abbott Elementary star is a fan of Drag Race and is particularly enjoying season 16. He would also jump at the opportunity to be a guest and sit alongside RuPaul, Michelle Visage and the rest of the judging panel.

"I would relish it. It's such an incredible show," Perfetti said.

"I'm usually many episodes behind and this season I'm not, I'm right there chomping at the bit, waiting for Friday.

"I'm just so impressed with what they're doing and I love the phenomenon that it has become. It's food for the soul, that show."

The same can be said for Abbott Elementary, which has just been renewed for a fourth instalment while season 3 is still airing.

Set in an underfunded public school in Philadelphia, the mockumentary series created by and starring Quinta Brunson follows her optimistic, dedicated character Janine and her fellow teachers as they try to improve their students' lives as well as their own.

Together with Perfetti and Brunson, the show stars Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as principal Ava Coleman, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, William Stanford Davis as Mr Johnson and Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard.

Abbott Elementary airs on ABC in the US, and is available on Disney+ in the UK. RuPaul's Drag Race US airs on MTV in the US and WOW Presents Plus in the UK.
