Only Murders in the Building spoilers follow.

Only Murders in the Building is switching it up for it's fourth season, with the action set to take place in sunny California.

Cast members Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez – AKA Charles, Oliver and Mabel – will be leaving the iconic Arconia building in New York behind and heading to Los Angeles for their next case.

Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich revealed the new location when asked about his reaction to the first scripts for season four in an interview with Deadline at the 2024 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour.

"Well, I’m very excited to see Steve, Martin and Selena take a little break from the apartment building and come to Los Angeles," he said.

"So in the same way that [co-creator] John Hoffman used the canvas of Broadway to tell what I think was one of the most unique seasons you’ve ever seen, the same unique Only Murders take will be applied to Los Angeles, which I’m really excited about."

No further details were given, and it's not yet known whether the entirety of the next season will be set in Los Angeles, or if this relocation will just be a short trip during the season.

In further Only Murders news, viewers can now look forward to seeing Loretta Durkin back on screens, with Meryl Streep confirmed to return for season 4.

Fans will no doubt be keen to see if Oliver's new love interest goes the distance or not.

Erwich was full of praise for the actress when asked about a possible Streep return, before the news broke.

"I thought she gave one of the best television performances of the year last year," he said. "I’ve listened to that song she has sung probably a dozen times. I can never get tired of it."

The comedy-mystery was thankfully renewed for a fourth season by Disney+ back in October, as season three ended on quite the cliffhanger.

While the trio successfully solved Ben Glenroy’s murder, the closing moments of the finale saw Charles’s stunt double Sazz (Jane Lynch) shot dead in his apartment – with Charles presumably the intended victim.

Only Murders in the Building is available to stream on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
