Charlie Sheen has admitted that he wants to return to Two and a Half Men for the show's final episode.

CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler recently expressed interest in bringing the sitcom back for an 11th season, but Sheen - who played Charlie Harper until he was fired in 2011 - has revealed that he would like to appear in the eventual series finale.

Addressing his character's off-screen demise, Sheen quipped on Late Show with David Letterman: "I am dead. But so is the show."

During his appearance - which aired on CBS last night (January 14) - Sheen also addressed his much-publicised "meltdown", during which the actor claimed that he was a "rock star from Mars" infused with "tiger blood".

"I'm sure it looked like I was going to spontaneously combust at any moment," the 47-year-old admitted. "It was an adrenal ride. I think it was mostly fuelled by anger."

Sheen recently spoke out in defence of his former Two and a Half Men co-star Angus T Jones, who urged viewers to stop watching the CBS sitcom in November, calling it "filth".

"He's a good kid and maybe he's just going through a phase," said Sheen. "I don't think he's crazy, I just think he's a little maybe over-influenced."

The tenth season of Two and a Half Men continues on Thursdays on CBS and airs on Comedy Central on Mondays in the UK.
