Brendan Hunt has teased the possibility of a Ted Lasso spin-off show.

The critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series is currently airing its third run, though it is set to take a break when the season comes to an end.

Whether or not the show continues into a fourth season, Hunt – who co-created the series and plays Coach Beard – suggested that a spin-off could be on the cards in the future, during an exclusive chat with Digital Spy.

"I definitely could," he said when asked if he could see the world of Ted Lasso expanding, before teasing what sort of form it could take.

"I don't know that it will [happen] but if it does, whichever character it is about, I hope it's animated and they're fighting crime."

Asked whether he would like Beard to get his own show, Hunt then quipped: "No, my character should be doing crime." We'd certainly love to see that.

Hunt also addressed the rumours that season three would be the end of the Emmy-award winning series, and confirmed that (for now) the plan is to take a break from the show.

"Well, that remains to be seen," he said, when asked if the series will continue. "But we definitely saw it as a three-part story and this will be the end of that story. And we treated it as such."

The star elaborated: "Does that mean it's the end of the series? Not necessarily. But at the very least after season three, we're going to take a break, get away from each other's pretty faces for a while, of which we are so tired.

"And then after that, everything's on the table," Hunt teased.

Ted Lasso season 3 streams on Apple TV+, with new episodes every Wednesday.
