Tell Me Lies season 1 spoilers follow.

Tell Me Lies will be back for a second season, it has been confirmed.

The series, which airs on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US, follows an increasingly toxic relationship over the course of eight years, with Grace Van Patten (Nine Perfect Strangers and Maniac) and Jackson White (Mrs Fletcher) playing the central couple.

The streamer has now confirmed that season 2 will be going ahead, which comes after a somewhat open-ended season 1 finale.

Speaking last month, Van Patten expressed hope that a second season would be greenlit, telling Deadline: "I’m just hoping so badly that we get a second season so that we can explore those unspoken things that happened."

She further speculated on what she'd like to see her character Lucy do next time around: "What is the rest of her experience with Stephen in college? I mean, she must have to go back to him. That seems like a relationship that’s just a constant push and pull.

"And then I’m like, how does she end up with Max? Because in the present day, she’s settled and living with Max and seems stable and seems like she has it together.

"And to watch that journey of her get there and then have Stephen just pop into her life again, I would love to see the process of that.

"It’s probably going to be so extremely painful because watching her get it together and heal and begin the healing process and then he’ll just get right back in there at the perfect time."

Tell Me Lies is based on the 2018 novel by Carola Lovering and has been created by Meaghan Oppenheimer.

Tell Me Lies is streaming on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
