It looks like Game of Thrones fans won't have to wait much longer to get their hands on George R R Martin's The Winds of Winter.
On his website, the author has explained he is (still) working on the sixth book in A Song of Ice and Fire, the series that inspired the HBO show. However, he appears to be getting closer to the finish line with this one.
"I hope to wrap up the story line for one of the viewpoint characters of WINDS OF WINTER this week. Maybe even two," Martin wrote on August 12.

The writer also revealed he has already watched the hotly-anticipated Thrones spin-off prequel, House of the Dragon. Set to debut on August 21, the series will focus on the events leading to the Targaryen war of succession.
"I've seen all ten episodes now (albeit in rough cuts), and I love what I've seen," Martin said.

"[Showrunners Ryan J Condal and Miguel Sapochnik] and their amazing cast and crew have done some magnificent work.
"[House of the Dragon] is all I hoped it would be; dark, powerful, visceral, disturbing, stunning to look at, peopled with complex and very human characters brought to life by some truly amazing actors."

Finally, Martin confirmed his involvement in other Game of Thrones spin-offs, including a sequel announced earlier this year and set to follow the character of Jon Snow.
"Development is a long and chancy process, of course, and there's no telling how many series will be greenlit in the end… I am really excited about the way some of them are coming along, though," he shared.
House of the Dragon will premiere on August 21 in the US on HBO, and on August 22 in the UK on Sky Atlantic and NOW. Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray.
