Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 is about to give fans a fun crossover with another part of the franchise.
Fresh out of Comic-Con, where Digital Spy was present, showrunner Henry Alonso Myers explained to the crowd how one of the staff writers came up with the notion to bring in the animated Lower Decks crew for a special episode, despite the two Star Trek spin-offs existing in different formats.
"One of our writers David Reid also works on The Boys, and he was just like: 'Hey wouldn't it be funny if we do a crossover?' and we were like: 'Yeah that'd be great!'

"We were in the room and just started talking about it, and then we were like: 'What if we could get more than one person from Lower Decks on our show?'" Myers continued.
"The crazy thing is that we had this whole discussion about it and then I get a call from Alex [Kurtzman], completely separate, wasn't about the show, and he said: 'I think you guys should think about doing a crossover with Lower Decks...'

Coincidentally, Star Trek: Discovery actress Sonequa Martin-Green has shared her interest in crossing over with the cartoon world of Lower Decks too.
"Well I love the crossover episodes – I would crossover with anyone. I'm like: 'Come on let's figure this out!' That's what I would love to see as we're expanding," she revealed just last month.
Make it so.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds streams on Paramount+, with new episodes premiering on Thursdays in the US and on Wednesdays in the UK.
