Marvel just revealed some very big news regarding its hit animated show What If…?
At the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel returned after three years to announce its next animation and live-action slates today Friday (July 22), it was confirmed that What If…? is getting a third season.
The second season of this animated series isn't even slated to arrive until early 2023, but Marvel has already revealed that it is developing a third season for the show.

What If...? had a successful first season, with nine episodes exploring various alternate realities within the MCU, including a Star-Lord T'Challa, Captain Carter, Doctor Strange Supreme and ultimate Ultron.

Marvel also gave a little insight into what kind of stories we can expect to see in the second season.
The new episodes will continue to explore alternate versions of MCU characters and will also feature characters from phase 4 MCU projects, which include Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Some episode storylines from this season include a story about Hela, the goddess of Death from Thor: Ragnarok (who was played by Cate Blanchett in the film), an Odin vs the Mandarin story, Captain Carter meeting the Winter Soldier and Tony Stark going to Sakaar with Valkyrie and the Hulk.
What If…? has had a major impact in the MCU. The stories told in the first season had a direct correlation to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Zombie Strange was a direct reference to the zombies What If... Zombies?! episode, which explored a universe where a virus of the Quantum Realm infected Earth, causing a majority of superheroes to turn into zombies.
In November 2021, it was announced that a spin-off show titled Marvel Zombies was in development based on that episode. What If...? director Bryan Andrews is returning and Marvel Comics writer Zeb Wells is coming on board as head writer. The show takes place in the same reality featured in the What If...? episode and will focus on a new generation of superheroes battling the undead.
What If…? season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ in early 2023. Season 3's release date has not been announced.
