Ms Marvel spoilers follow.

Ms Marvel might be one of the newest heroes in Marvel's Disney+ roster, but she's also one of the best. There's a reason why Kamala Khan's journey to the MCU happened so quickly from page to screen, after all.

Now that the first season (which released in June 2022) is over, you're probably wondering if season two is on the cards... and honestly, that's a tricky one to answer.

In theory, there's only supposed to be one season of Ms Marvel, which is why it was billed as a limited series.

But can Kamala's show do a Big Little Lies and score a surprise renewal? Or is her future only going to play out on the big screen in films like The Marvels, the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel which will star Iman Vellani alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris (who you first met in WandaVision)?

Slap on your magic bangle and join us here at Digital Spy as we take a closer look at everything you need to know about Ms Marvel season two on Disney+.

Ms Marvel season 2 potential release date: When will it return on Disney+?

The Marvels is currently billed for a cinema release on July 28, 2023 (after much date-swapping and a few delays) so official news around a Ms Marvel renewal might not come until after that.

But even if season two is announced before then, we wouldn't expect to see new episodes until late 2023 at the absolute earliest. And that's assuming Ms Marvel is even on track for a second season (with no news or updates, it's seeming more and more unlikely at this point).

Ms Marvel season 2 cast: Who will be in it?

Ms Marvel wouldn't be Ms Marvel without Iman Vellani in the lead, but who could be joining her for season two?

Here are the most likely candidates:

• Matt Lintz as Bruno Carrelli
• Yasmeen Fletcher as Nakia Bahadir
• Zenobia Shroff as Muneeba Khan
• Mohan Kapur as Yusuf Khan
• Saagar Shaikh as Aamir Khan
• Rish Shah as Kamran
• Samina Ahmad as Sana (Kamala's grandmother)
• Fawad Khan as Hasan (Kamala's great-grandfather)
• Aramis Knight as Kareem/Red Dagger

Speaking recently to Screen Rant, Aramis Knight confirmed he would be interested in reprising the role of Red Dagger in potential new episodes.

"Yeah, if there is a season two, I will be back," he said. How that might actually play out remains to be seen.

Ms Marvel season 2 plot: What will the second season be about?

Ms Marvel's ending episode and its credits scene did a lot of work to set up The Marvels movie, even bringing in Carol Danvers' face(!!). And yes, in case you were still confused, it really was her.

But what could be in store for Ms Marvel season two, should we get one, will depend largely on where the story goes in The Marvels.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Vellani explained how Brie Larson helped guide the young star through her first movie role:

"She’s been super supportive. And you know, having a figure like Brie Larson kind of hold your hand throughout all of this and tell you she’s going through the same things that you are is just crazy."

And beyond that, it looks like there is a slim chance that another season of Ms Marvel might end up happening, after all.

During a chat with Screen Rant in June 2022, producer Sana Amanat looked ahead to the character's future on screen, saying:

"It is laid out as a limited series for her to go off and do other things. Like, it certainly establishes [her as a hero], she will be going into The Marvels next, so that’s kind of there," she said. "But I will say I really hope that she is a part … you know, I hope we get a season two is all I'm gonna say. I hope we're a part of that."

In February, Marvel boss Kevin Feige teased the "fun cosmic elements" of The Marvels during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"Marvel comic fans will recognize elements of the Kree-Skrull war. And it's picking up directly after the end of Captain Marvel, not in timeline but in story. We also do that in our upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion, and those are two very different follow-ups to that movie.

"Tonally, they couldn't be more different. But there's something immensely powerful about seeing Monica and Kamala and Carol together in a frame. To me, it's only akin to the first Avengers movie and seeing the six of them together in a frame. It's chill-inducing. They're so great together, and they all have different histories with one another."

He later added: "The great thing about Kamala in her show, and now in this movie, is that she's not unlike Tom Holland's Peter Parker in Civil War... She can't believe she's with these other heroes, and can't believe that she finds herself in these places. And that's fun because we want to be that. I want to be that."
