Game of Thrones star John Bradley has addressed whether he could make return to Westeros in the newly announced and already much-anticipated Jon Snow spin-off series.

Bradley spent eight years playing the beloved character Samwell Tarly, a close friend of Jon Snow who became the new Grand Maester in the series finale, so it's only natural that questions immediately began to swirl about a possible appearance in the series.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy ahead of the release of his new film The Railway Children Return, the actor admitted that while he initially had thought he was happy to put the character behind him, he would be interested in reading a script for the new series.

"I tend to think about it," he said. "I think we all left Game of Thrones thinking that we'd played these characters for so long and they had such a life to them, we'd like to sort of check in with them and see how they're getting on.

"We played those parts for so long that as soon as we'd finished, we felt sort of free of them in a way. Because it's a lot of story to carry around and a lot of emotional life to carry around with you."

The actor also added that while the focus these days has been on enjoying "a bit of a break from that" and exploring new roles and projects for a little while, he's not shutting down the idea of returning to Westeros completely.

"I think we're all enjoying having a bit of a break from that and exploring new areas," he continued.

"But in the future, who knows? I haven't spoken to anybody about the potential Jon Snow prequel, but if somebody wants to send a script my way I’d be interested to read it."

Emilia Clarke – aka Daenerys Targaryen herself – also shared the same sentiments about taking a break from the series, previously telling BBC News that she thinks she's "done" for now.

Currently, only Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow in the series, and the creator of the books George RR Martin, are confirmed as being involved with the new show, the latest announced in a line of Thrones spin-offs.

However, Gwendoline Christie, who portrayed Brienne of Tarth on the HBO show, has also expressed an interest in wearing her character's shoes once more.

"I think I would always be happy to revisit Brienne, but we will have to see. We will have to see," she said last month.

Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. Spin-off House of the Dragon will premiere on August 21, 2022 in the UK.
