Outer Banks star Chase Stokes posted an emotional tribute to his friend and stand-in Alexander 'AJ' Jennings, who tragically died in a hit-and-run on Tuesday.
Stokes posted to his Instagram story on Wednesday after a coroner confirmed Jennings' death. Stokes wrote: "Still trying to process why certain things happen, and why the world works in the ways that it does. My heart is shattered. Your life was just starting. We JUST talked about how pumped you were about your tunes, how far you'd come with that ole 6 string and your want to keep creating art. Always always making others hearts warm and being so damn selfless."
He continued: "I wish I had more words to say right now, but the past day has been a struggle to say the least. We all love you, you touched all of our lives and made us all better people, and for that — thank you, AJ. Fly high, angel ❤️."

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office released a statement confirming that a pedestrian was killed in the early hours of Tuesday morning at 2:30 a.m. The pedestrian was walking on the road in North Charleston, where the filming of the third season of Outer Banks was taking place.
Charleston County Coroner later confirmed that the pedestrian was Jennings. He was hit by two cars, which both fled the area.
Kimmie Stewart casting announced Jennings' death on Facebook and Instagram on Wednesday, writing: "It is with great sadness that I share on Tuesday Alexander 'AJ' Jennings' mother informed me of his tragic death."
The statement continued: "AJ was a beautiful, kind soul, and a bright light every day on set. He moved to Charleston from New York to work as our John B photo double/stand-in this season."
The statement finished with: "We will miss this amazing human & his infectious smile dearly."
Jennings was the stand-in for Stokes, who plays John B Routledge in Outer Banks. The TV show is still filming its third season; however, it is unclear how this accident will affect production.
