The Suicide Squad director James Gunn has revealed he will be popping up for a special cameo in the Harley Quinn animated series… as himself.
The DC show, which sees The Flight Attendant's Kaley Cuoco voice the titular character, is currently on the way, having last aired all the way back in 2020.
However, Gunn – who has overseen Quinn's live-action incarnation in The Suicide Squad – has now confirmed his own involvement on his Instagram page.

"Excited to confirm I'll be playing myself in season 3 of one of my favorite TV shows, @dcharleyquinn!" he revealed alongside a poster for the show.
"Thanks to the whole Harley Quinn gang for all the fun. PS. My Thomas Wayne biopic (in the show) is going to be a masterpiece!!"
Harley Quinn season 3 is currently in the audio mixing stage, which was confirmed by co-creator Patrick Schumacker a few weeks ago.
"Just finished the first audio mix of @dcharleyquinn SEASON 3! Call your friends! It's happening! It's happeniiiiiiiiing!" he tweeted.

As for Harley Quinn, show boss Justin Halpern previously teased where the next season could go, touching upon Quinn and Poison Ivy's relationship.
"We spent two years digging into Harley, and Ivy was her own character, but her stories were told mostly in relation to Harley," he told Deadline. "I think in this third season, it'd be interesting to flip that, and dig deeper into Ivy and her life, and tell some stories through her point of view.
"So, we're excited to be able to do that because it feels completely new – somewhere to go that we haven't gone, that isn't going to make the audience feel like, 'We saw two seasons of that. What the f**k is this?'"
As well as his involvement in The Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn, Gunn has recently overseen the Peacemaker spin-off series, starring John Cena, which has aired in the US and is set to finally land in the UK next week.
Harley Quinn season 3 will stream on HBO Max in the US, while UK fans can tune in over on E4.
