Actor and musician Donald Glover has revealed that he and the writers of FX's Atlanta were racially harassed while they were filming in London.

Donald and his co-writers Stefani Robinson and Stephen Glover, who is also Donald's brother, opened up about the racism they experienced during the Television Critics Association's winter press conference (via Insider).

Stephen explained that the incident happened on their first night staying in London, when a group of drunk people approached the team when they were standing on the street near their residence.

Stephen said: "This group of people walks up. And maybe one of them kind of notices Donald or recognises him. And she stops and they start asking if they know anywhere around here to get something to drink. I think we were talking to them for a second. It's this girl and two or three guys."

One of the men then allegedly suggested that the Atlanta team could break into a nearby closed bar because "you guys all carry hammers," referring to guns.

"Mind you, all of the writers on Atlanta are Black. So, he's making a reference that we all have hammers, and we can just break into this place, which we kind of ignored," Stephen continued.

Stefani chimed in to say that it was "insulting" as the man escalated by saying: "You guys are Black, you've gone to jail and you do things like that."

The Atlanta writers were talking to a woman, who was then taken away by her friend who shouted: "Run. They are going to rape you."

Star Wars actor Donald said: "We are just standing there, like, 'What just happened?'"

The incident happened when the team were filming Atlanta's third season, which is due to debut on March 24.

The comedy has confirmed, with corroboration from FX Chairman John Landgraf and Donald Glover himself, that the show will air its fourth and final season later this year.

Landgraf recently said that fans should "expect the unexpected" and "enjoy the trip" when the new season is released.
