The Suicide Squad spin-off show Peacemaker will ride again, James Gunn has announced.
Featuring John Cena's anything-necessary saviour, the first seven episodes (available via HBO Max in the US) follow his enrolment into 'Project Butterfly', with Danielle Brooks offering support as Leota Adebayo, alongside Freddie Stroma's Vigilante, Chukwudi Iwuji's Clemson Murn, Steve Agee's John Economos and Jennifer Holland's Emilia Harcourt.
Hitting Instagram today (February 16), the showrunner shared his big season 2 news alongside a short Boomerang clip of the gang walking.

"That's right, #Peacemaker is coming back for Season Two," Gunn wrote.
"Thanks to Peter Safran, @johncena, our incredible cast & crew, our wildly supportive & lovely friends at @HBOMax - and mostly all of you for watching!"
His comment section quickly piled up with enthusiastic fans, with one response reading: "WHOOOOOOO YEAH BABY! [THAT'S] WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT! WHOOOOOOOOO'".
"OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST NEWS!!" and "Hell Yeah! I hope most of the characters survive the finale," added two more people.

Just last month, the Guardians of the Galaxy mastermind commented on why he chose Cena's character to lead a TV offshoot from his Worlds of DC reboot.
"Number one, I really got along with John Cena. We became really good friends. He's a funny guy and I thought it would be fun to continue working with him," he told Supes.
"I also think that a lot of the other characters we saw in The Suicide Squad, we saw big changes in them. Ratcatcher-2 changed a lot. Bloodsport changed a lot. Polka-Dot Man changed a lot.
"Peacemaker kind of remained the unrepentant SOB that he was at the beginning of the movie and I knew that there was a lot deeper to go with the character," continued Gunn.
Peacemaker season 1 is streaming on HBO Max in the US, with UK transmission details still to be confirmed.
