Michelle Yeoh will team up with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director once again in a new series set to stream on Disney+.
Deadline has reported that Yeoh will lead the international cast of American Born Chinese, an action-comedy series exploring identity and family directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
The Crazy Rich Asians star will play Guanyin, who helps her nephew Wei-Chen navigate American high school while she also juggles a secret identity. Seemingly an unassuming aunt, Guanyin is actually the all-powerful Buddhist bodhisattva of Compassion.

Adapted from Gene Luen Yang's graphic novel, American Born Chinese will focus on protagonist Jin Wang, an average teenager who ends up involved in a battle of Chinese mythological gods after meeting a new foreign student on the first day of the school year.
The show also features MacGyver star Ben Wang, Mortal Kombat's Chin Han and Ke Huy Quan, who will be next seen in hotly-anticipated sci-fi movie Everything Everywhere All At Once together with Yeoh.
Wet Season's Yeo Yann Yann, Reminiscence's Daniel Wu, former Taekwondo champion Jim Liu and Sydney Taylor, known for Just Add Magic, round up the cast of the Disney+ series, which will begin production later this month.

Yeoh and filmmaker Cretton have previously worked together on Shang-Chi, the first MCU adventure focusing on an Asian superhero played by Kim's Convenience star Simu Liu.
Yeoh played the role of Ying Nan, Shang-Chi's aunt, with the cast also including Awkwafina, Meng'er Zhang, Fala Cheng, Tony Leung and Benedict Wong, who reprised his role from Doctor Strange.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now streaming on Disney+.
