Netflix has confirmed the release of spin-off series Vikings: Valhalla, based on the History Channel's series Vikings.
The new series will premiere on the streaming platform on Friday February 25 and the story will take place a century after the events of the original show.
Netflix has released first-look images and a teaser trailer for the spin-off series, showing us what we can expect.

The original series ran for six seasons, and it is likely Netflix is hoping for a similar longevity for the spin-off, capitalising on the existing fanbase.
The show is set at a time when the Vikings have taken over most of England and are making their way into Normandy, and introduces Leif Eriksson, who some historians believe was the first European to set foot on North America.

Vikings creator Michael Hirst has tapped Die Hard writer Jeb Stuart to be Valhalla's writer and showrunner. In a statement, Hirst said: "I am beyond excited that we are announcing the continuation of our Vikings saga. I know that the millions of our fans across the globe will be thrilled by the belief being shown in our show by MGM and Netflix."
"Jeb Stuart, a truly wonderful writer, will bring new storylines and a powerful visceral vision to stories about some of the most famous vikings known to history."
Valhalla will air on February 25, 2022 on Netflix and Vikings seasons 1-6 are streaming via Amazon Prime Video.
