Vikings: Valhalla season three is currently streaming on Netflix, with the eight-episode run concluding in an hour-long finale.

But will the Vikings spin-off be returning for season four?

Sadly, it's not good news for fans of the action-packed warrior show. It was confirmed by Netflix back in October 2023 that Vikings: Valhalla would end with its third season.

Therefore, we're sorry to say, the episodes currently playing out on the streaming platform will be the last we see from the show.

The creator of the series, Jeb Stuart, previously said (via an interview with IGN) how "grateful" he was to have three seasons worth of storytelling for the series' main characters Leif, Harald and Freydís.

"I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how three of the most famous Vikings became the icons we know today, and we have done just that," Stuart added.

Vikings: Valhalla was spun from the OG historical drama Vikings, which first arrived on screens all the way back in 2013. The series centred on the legendary Viking warrior Ragnar Lothbrok (played by Travis Fimmel), one of the best-known Norse heroes.

Vikings spanned six seasons, before concluding in 2020 – two years before the Vikings: Valhalla spin-off premiered.

Why has Vikings: Valhalla ended?

Show boss Jeb Stuart has said that "it made sense story-wise" for Vikings: Valhalla to come to an end with a third and final season, implying that the popular show was simply reaching its own natural conclusion.

He went on to acknowledge: "Of course with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored..."

But Stuart underlined that it was time for Leif, Freydis and Harald's "voyages to end" and that he couldn't wait for fans of the show to see how it would wrap up "this chapter of history."

Since the final season's debut on Netflix, where it has enjoyed success in the streamer's trending top 10, actor Sam Corlett has dedicated an Instagram post to the end of the show.

"It was an honor to have collaborated with our exceptional cast and crew and to have all of you amazing individuals join us on this epic journey," Sam wrote, before going on to thank fans for making Vikings: Valhalla such a success on Netflix.

Sam also shared a post with co-stars Frida Gustavsson and Leo Suter, incorporating some behind-the-scenes snaps from set, along with the words: "Raising our horns to all our incredible fans!"

Bradley Freegard, who plays King Canute the Great in the series, has also been busy promoting the final season of the much-loved series.

Vikings: Valhalla seasons 1-3 are on Netflix.
